Tibetans have always had a passion for football or soccer. This fondness for the game has continued in exile. nevertheless, it was only after 42 years in exile that the Tibetan Sports Association was formed. The primary goal of the Association is to introduce, establish and promote games and sports within the Tibetan community, and emphasize sport's character-building qualities. Because of the Tibetan love for the game of football, one of the first tasks undertaken is the promotion of the game in exile, and working towards the formation of a Tibetan Football team.
